Siam Chinese restaurant

When we arrived in Eldoret, we were disappointed to learn that Siam, our favorite restaurant in town, was closed. But it reopened Sunday after 3 months of renovation. So we had dinner there last night (Monday) and celebrated Diana's birthday with fabulous gifts and delicious Kenyan cake. Local ENT's, Drs. Sisenda, Makaya, and Ngoitsi hosted us. Our only regret is that we could only eat there once during this visit.

my Valentine

Kathi walked the next patient back to the operating room, hand in hand. I wasn't quick enough to snap a good picture right then, but here they are before she gets on the table. Her name is Valentine.

Here's me in "theatre" with one of the animal-themed hair covers made and brought by Diana.

Monday surgeries

Lots of surgeries scheduled for Monday, including two big ones. The upper picture is a laryngectomy in progress. The lower picture is a difficult facial/mouth/jaw reconstruction project led by Dr. Coleman to help a boy who was pretty severely disfigured by some sort of sugar cane processing machine.
